Visit From Nephew Chris and Fiancée

This weekend Chris and Prem flew in from Boston to visit Oma and Opa.  Opa took us all out to the Angus Barn to celebrate Chris and Prem's recent engagement.  Lots of meat (and some alcohol) was consumed. We acted as tour guides and showed the Triangle to our visitors from the north.  The weather was warm and everyone had a great time.  Unfortunately, we are unlikely to see Prem and Chris until their wedding in October.

This morning, three male deer in our backyard.  And our spring bluebird family never left us - so we keep feeding them meal worms through the winter.

Go Beard or Go Home

Anna and I went "window shopping" for shotguns before our Shotgun 101 class at the Durham County Wildlife Club. The Duck Dynasty hat fit physically - but not philosophically.

Christmas Eve 2013

Spent Christmas eve with Oma & Opa.  We drank champagne, ate (very well) and opened all our presents. Jeff sent us all hats - which we promptly donned for our Christmas portraits.  We had a Skype conversation with Melanie, Doug and baby Grayson.  And we missed all the rest of our family and friends who were celebrating around the the world.  We hope to see them all again soon.

Weekend in Charlotte, NC

After all that turkey we decided to take a trip to Charlotte, NC.  We stayed at the Westin Uptown (Charlotte’s “downtown”); enjoyed our 24th floor view and the pool and sauna.  We had dinners at the McNinch House and Georges Brasserie.  We walked many miles and spent time at the Mint Museum and loved Fantastic Frogs at Discovery Place (supposedly for children).  Anna bought herself an early Christmas present, a cobalt blue cashmere sweater, at Neiman Marcus.  Although we were underwhelmed by the much touted NoDa we otherwise really enjoyed North Carolina's largest city.
