Red Buds ? Yup, Red Buds!

Ok so we came from up north and now witnessing the most fantastic spring...
Can not believe the amount of flowering trees. Cherry , apple, dogwood, yellow, red and purple trees.
The picture is of a tree that blooms here in NC all over the place.
I asked my friend, Tim, at work what they were called... He said "Red Buds"..
Hmmm, I really didn't believe him actually and Myron and I laughed about the "Red Buds"
But I owe Tim a major lunch out... they are called Red Buds and the Latin name is Cercis Canadensis. They are simply beautiful.

Flowers and Dilapidations

We went to the OBX this weekend to see how Mark and Sean were doing on home repair. They were doing a wonderful job. They already had the 2 big picture windows in and they were heavy... On the way, we drive through an area of wetlands called appropriately, The Great Dismal Swamp. There are a few rural small towns along the way surrounded by farmland and of course swampland. Wild animals abound ; red wolf, deer, possum, bear etc . Thank goodness we have only seen roadkill and a few deer off in the pastures.... Anyway along this rather empty route, we find many beautiful wild flowers and dilapidated homes and buildings. We decided to capture the buildings and create a possible showing of these "dilapidations". But we were awestruck by the wild wisteria creeping up 30 foot pines and hanging lush and purple like grapes on the vine. I think you might find the beginnings of a photo exhibit in these photos!!!
