Father's Day 2009

Anna took Opa to see Terminator, Myron took Oma to see The Proposal... both at the same time in the same movie theatre! Then off to Squids for a seafood feast.
What can we say? A Father's Day to remember.

Lebanese Restaurant in Raleigh with Kevin and Zareen

A beautiful warm evening, a tremendous Lebanese meal and great company with Kevin and Zareen, friends of Ren in Tokyo.
This get-together started when Ren emailed us to let us know that Kevin and Zareen lived in Raleigh and were old friends of his when they were all in the JET program in Japan together some 14 years ago. So we contacted one another and arranged a delightful dinner at Sitta, a relatively newly established Lebanese restaurant in the Capital District of Raleigh.
We started at 7pm and finished after 10:30 having a delightful time sampling amazing Lebanese dishes, enjoying libation, telling stories and discussing work and events. Ren mentioned that Zareen and I worked in the same e-learning field but in different industries so it was interesting to find that we both shared similar issues.
Myron and I look forward to another visit soon.
Thanks Ren !

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Raleigh!

Today June 13th, we ran in the Race for the Cure for Breast Cancer in Raleigh.
We ran in celebration of my cousin Arlene Walsleben who won the battle and lives strong today. Her name is on the pink bib Anna is wearing,
We thank everyone who sponsored us in the race. The proceeds go to continue the fight to find a cure. Over 22,000 people entered the event today. There were a variety of races over the course of the morning and we ran in the competitive 5K race at 7am. Our times were not too bad even though it was hot! We ran side by side so our time was 33 minutes and 23 seconds. Anna came in 18th out of 40 in her age group (Female 55-59) and Myron came in 9th out of 10 in his age group (male 65-69). He would have run faster if I didn't slow him down :-)!!
For the rest of the day we can hang out at the pool!!!
Hope you enjoy the pix! The headbands are from Japan and are translated as "divine wind". We needed wind at our backs!
Love you all,
Anna and Myron
