Results and a Treat

Well, we started at the end of April with Power 90 for 90 days, then we did Insanity for 60 days. We took 3 weeks off to go to Japan  for a visit and  then to Wisconsin for my niece's wedding.  We decided to restart Insanity and are now on week 4 for the second round.  So 13 pounds later and feeling super fit and healthy we went shopping for a work outfit.  Talbots had a  very good sale and I bought a soft leather pencil skirt and a cashmere sweater.  Not only were the sizes smaller, but I have never been able to wear a pencil skirt.  Myron made me pose for a photo and he made me post it here.  But in all modesty, Insanity exercise every day and good diet make for health, vim and vigor!!!

Weekend at OBX

Friends and Family

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with my folks and enjoyed Turkey and the fixins'. I made my special apple and pumpkin pies and brined the turkey with herbs and spices. I decided to be a Southern cook as well and whipped up sweet potato casserole with pecans . It was delicious even though I substituted Vermont maple syrup for the brown sugar. You can't get the Vermonter out of me totally.
We drove to out beach house in Nags Head on the Outer Banks of NC to enjoy the weekend.
We hadn't been there since the end of August so we really had to check it out. We knew that we had no damage from Hurricane Sandy but we did not expect so much sand in the driveway and walkway from the storm surge. We shoveled for a full half of a day 18 inches deep heavy sand. Glad we work out!
We enjoyed  the beach walks, the fireplace, Dirty Dick's Crab house and a movie, The Life of Pi, which was quite good.  At Kitty Hawk Kites, Myron decided to try out the Jet Pack. It permits you to fly by using the pressure from water so you can fly over the ocean or any body of water. We will definitely give it a try this summer. That will be an adventure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=im1iNq02Kz0
View the adventure we intend to live!!!!

Taiko Drumming!!!

When we were in Japan, Chikage had a Taiko drumming lesson after school. We went to watch and I ended up actually taking the lesson too! Myron was the photographer for this event. The kids were great and I "ain't got no rhythm"! But I managed with enthusiasm. Here are some pictures. The teacher was terrific and the towels on the drums were to lesson the noise to avoid bothering the neighbors near the school where the lesson was held......Great fun and Chikage and Hiroko are good at this... Also it is a workout!

Matsue Samurai Castle! , a set on Flickr.

This the famous only surviving samurai castle in Matsue on the Sea of Japan in western Japan. Fantastic .

I have put up 6 posts for our Japan trip so you can view them in some semblance of our adventures. You will have to click on "Older Posts" in order to view them all.
